As promised, here are a few highlights regarding news on the Oracle E-Business Suite side, such as how you can work on the preparation for the upcoming EU GDPR as well as new products that will be coming up in the short term that were introduced and demo’ed at #C18LV.
1) Person Data Removal Tool
This new functionality on Oracle E-Business Suite, which will work for release 12.1 and 12.2, is part of the Oracle E-Business Suite preparation for the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and designed to overwrite selected data associated with HR people, TCA parties, and FND users in the application database tables in the Oracle E-Business Suite. In order to maintain relational integrity, business logic and customizations, the data removal is primarily focused on overwriting and obfuscating the selected data in place.
This new DRT tool can be found in My Oracle Support (MOS) Document: Oracle E-Business Suite Data Removal Tool Roadmap (Doc ID 2384629.1)
More information regarding Oracle E-Business Suite and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) can be found in the MOS Document (Doc ID 2363912.1).
2) Adaptive Intelligence
Oracle E-Business Suite has been talking about Adaptive Intelligence Apps that will amplify the value of EBS with Artificial Intelligence.
The Adaptive Intelligent Apps help automate or optimize specific business processes that are often challenging and time-consuming for humans, such as spotting the root cause of production errors in a factory, or identifying the best payment discounts to offer suppliers.
Recently Mark Hurd, Oracle CEO, in a conversation with Ray Wang, founder and principal analyst of Constellation Research, discussed how CFOs like the fact that cloud ERP powered by AI, machine learning, and pattern recognition can automate routine financial management tasks while reducing dependence on custom reports. That automation results in better, more timely reporting and fewer resources spent on the data integration required for custom reports.
Artificial Intelligence has been used in many applications, but specifically on ERP, it will make huge progress in reporting, automating processes and delivering information faster than ever before.
This would be the same E-Business Suite that you own and know, only supercharged with adaptive intelligence that will enable your users to predict, provide insights, and perform pattern and correlation analyses.
3) Enterprise Command Center
Last but not least, Oracle did a sneak preview of a new product that they are currently working on called “Enterprise Command Center”. This new product is the evolution of what we used to know as Endeca Extensions for EBS or later on Information Discovery.
The main drivers for this product are:
- Scalable Architecture
- Modern Interface
- Interactive Visualizations and Search
- Drag and Drop Design
- Data Centered Configurations
- No ETL Tools
- MLS Support
I think one of the most interesting aspects of this new analytic or discovery tool is the concept of “No ETL Tools” with just PL/SQL and SQL Based coding, a capability to define metadata at runtime with Update, insert and delete support and no penalty for insert vs update.
If you want to learn more about this, please go ahead and search at the Collaborate App for Session id: 10506.
I’ll be sharing more insights of this new product in a few weeks.
Overall, Collaborate 18 was another amazing week we could share with customers, prospects and friends. We’re ready for next year, Collaborate 2019, in a new city. We’re heading to San Antonio, TX… hope to see you there!
